Shemara’s Subtle Refit Retains Character

Great to see the stunning 65 meter yacht Shemara relaunched after an extensive rebuild project. The classic 1930’s motor yacht led an eventful life under her original owners. After she was sold at the end of the 1960s, her second owner cruised her for a short period before berthing her in the UK, where she remained largely forgotten for the best part of three decades. Her current owner instantly fell in love after the first viewing, which led to the start of an incredible voyage to bring her back to her former glory. The ensuing project, lasting three and a half years and taking one million man hours, has seen her reconfigured, refreshed, and largely rebuilt. She retains her original character but with all mod cons added, including a Rolls-Royce diesel-electric drive train. The superstructure was redesigned and rebuilt in aluminum, including the old wheelhouse which had originally been built in brass. The masts were replaced with carbon replicas, and the main funnel was remade in GRP – it now houses the brand new Intellian V150NX satellite antenna. Axxess Marine worked closely with the project team in STP, Palma on upgrading communications across VSAT and LTE, enabling the vessel to benefit from the latest marine communication and cyber security technology, and by locating the antenna and hardware in the funnel it meant that the original elegant lines of Shemara could be preserved. The Peplink TST Duos and Balance 500 together with AX200 Duo antennas deliver LTE 4G airtime services, flexibly balanced through Axxess Marine’s unique Dynamic Suspend service, enabling the owner, crew and guests to enjoy fast, reliable and uninterrupted services in port and at sea.
