Axxess Marine proudly Sponsors Antigua Yacht Club (AYC) Junior Sailor, Giles de Jager, who will be reporting on events in and around the Caribbean this season. To kick off the series, Giles reports on the 29th Annual Schoelcher Regatta in Martinique. One of the oldest and best attended of the Caribbean’s dinghy regattas, the Schoelcher International Sailing Week is organized by Martinique’s Cercle Nautique de Schoelcher. My time spent in the 29th annual Martinique Schoelcher regatta was amazing. The people there were kind, welcoming and the wind conditions were not disappointing in the slightest. We were experiencing an average 25 knots of wind during the entire Regatta.
The waves were the ideal height to just roll the boat over them and continue with the same speed. My opponents were all very experienced and it was no easy task coming 4th out of 35. I am very proud to represent AXXESS Marine.
