It’s not easy you know…


When you see no-contract, fixed data plans with top-ups, easy to understand packages, all priced in a single currency with simple online activation… it’s easy to overlook how hard it is to make everything just work. Not that we’re complaining, it’s a good business with clear customer value and instant feedback (sometimes faster than instant.)

Nine mobile networks, multiple data plans per network, different billing cycles, different activation commitments, local contracts, multi-currency billing and not to mention that every mobile network operator has their own system for managing SIMs.

At Axxess Marine we’ve invested heavily (and continue to invest) in operational systems, billing systems and a unifying client portal to insulate our customers from the underlying complexity of global cellular data networks.

We’ve rolled out some great new features over the last six months. This spring we released new features that help customers understand the cost of activating and topping up a SIM so the invoice is not a surprise.

Users requested, and we delivered, a feature to notify clients of any upcoming SIM auto-renewals. This service gives our users a chance to suspend service if it’s no longer required. Most mobile network operators send you an email to let you know service was just renewed. Axxess Marine believes in realtime, effective, and proactive customer service. We only want to charge you for service that you actually need. What a concept!

For clients that utilize Axxess Marine supplied Pep-Wave hardware, we’ve also recently released an improved multi-SIM usage tracking, system. This system makes it possible for our clients to see their data usage over time- across all mobile networks. Axxess Marine’s service doesn’t stop there, we have lots of ideas for using this data to generate alerts and to allow clients to query usage data for a specific charter or time period.

The next six months are going to be even busier than the last for our client portal team. We’re adding real-time SIM activation (no waiting!) and suspension for as many mobile network operators as possible. More detail usage reporting will be available via this system for all customers regardless of installed hardware. The Axxess Marine team is always innovating. New upcoming features in the works include network performance maps. These maps help Axxess Marine clients see the expected performance in specific anchorage or marina- realtime.
