Winning

We wrote this blog back a couple of years ago, never expecting that we would soon have our very own Cycling event- the Axxess Invitational, with Special Guest George Hincapie. Register here to ride with us on Tuesday September 26, 2017, right before the Monaco Yacht Show – and meet a legendary cyclist (and all around great guy.)

It’s been a busy season for us in Antibes.

I finally had the chance to catch up on some news and reading on a recent transatlantic flight. I am a pretty passionate cyclist and self-professed technology geek, so couldn’t help but read up on some of the articles touting Chris Froome’s Tour de France win this year as a technological and strategic masterpiece. Seeing the announcement this week that he will take part in the Vuelta a Espana (the third and final Grand Tour of 2015 which starts later this month) only peaked my interest more. The field will be strong, especially with Quintana and Nibali riding. It got me thinking about how Froome’s expertise, knowledge and use of the best equipment translates to so many aspects of business. It most certainly tells the story of how our particular company (Axxess Marine) came to be. In a great Wall Street Journal article, “How Chris Froome Won the Tour”, Joshua Robinson talks about how the decision that won Chris Froome the Tour de France was made weeks before he ever clipped into his bike. I get it.

When Axxess Marine stepped into the super yacht data service provider industry, the existing companies were strong and we knew we needed to bring more to the table not just to compete- but to set our clients up for the win so to speak. Our strategy was set long before we officially opened our doors for business and our clients have been winning ever since.

The Axxess way of providing data service creates priority for our clients on each of our Partner Data Service Provider Networks at a foundational level. Moreover, Axxess Marine’s local network-partnership framework provides unlimited data service- a much more advantageous scenario then paying a data fee that is based on roaming. Why pay exorbitant roaming fees when you can simply activate and deactivate Axxess Marine local SIM cards when needed? We believe clients should pay for what they actually use and it should be affordable, accessible and easy.

Simply, our clients want quality service even in the busiest times and high traffic areas. Axxess Marine’s business model is built on providing that. Imagine St Barth’s during Christmas and New Year, the Cannes film festival, Monaco Grand Prix or high season in the Caribbean or the Med. Axxess moves you to the front of the pack, like data-service domestiques (if we are going to keep up with the cycling analogy). We give client vessels what they need: short term commitments, flexibility, control (self service activation, deactivation), a single billing entity and the possibility for more data when needed without large overage bills.

So yes, I will be checking in to see how Froome and team Sky fare at the Vuelta a Espana over the next few weeks. Only French riders Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault have ever won both the Tour and the Vuelta so I wonder how and what Froome will do to put himself back on the podium. He has the capabilities, the equipment, the partnerships, the team and the strategy- everything he needs to be successful. I get it… that’s the premise we built Axxess Marine on-  and our clients are winning.
